Thanks to the FDA all Loperamide comes in blister packs now
I have seen some reviews complaining about the packaging of this medicine and I am also annoyed that you can only get this in a blister pack now. Scott Gottlieb, the “genius” at the FDA has suggested that manufacturers put this medication in blister packs to curb abuse. So once again, the FDA has made the decision to inconvenience the general public due to drug addicts. Meanwhile this won’t solve anything. So if you are looking to buy this in bulk or in a bottle, you’re out of luck

Better price than name brands and works great
Given pharmaceutical markups in the US (including OTC), I appreciate that Amazon offers this generic combo on subscription for more savings. The product works very well, though (as with most similarly packaged generics) freeing a pill from the bubble encasement isn’t particularly easy or quick. These pills are fairly large, much bigger than the Loperamide (AD)-only generic I usually use (Costco’s, available via the pharmacy counter), presumably because the mixture ratio is 125mg Simethicone to 2mg Loperamide. It’s somewhat chalky in consistency but does have a mild, pleasant flavor and is fairly easy to swallow.

Great pill…horrible packaging
These pills are just as good as the name brand and the other big retail store versions but these have the worst packaging I have ever see. So bad that I stopped buying these as they take forever to open and went back to a retail store version.

Great product terrible packaging
Do you not read all the reviews about how bad your packaging is? I’m sure old people cannot open them at all. Great product and price if you can get to the pills. Same with other Amazon meds. FIX IT!

Good value, bad packaging
These seem to work just as well as the name brand, but the packaging is disappointing. It’s so hard to open each individual pill. I’m a mid-40s fully-abled man with decent grip strength and this is difficult for me. I can’t imagine how hard it would be for someone with limited hand mobility/strength. I realize that the manufacturers are being forced to adjust packaging due to ongoing product abuse, but there has to be a better way. The name brand ones also have difficult packaging around each pill, but it’s not quite this bad.

Very difficult to separate packaging from product
Impossible to properly rate only the effectiveness of the product without mentioning the great difficulty in getting to the product through the scored corner which no matter how many times it is folded back and forth does not allow separating the pill from the packaging! Instead that scored corner eventally just rips off and you have to get a sissors and cut the end off and then rip off the paper covering. I get the reason is to keep kids away but….I’m way over 21!

Worst pill packaging ever
The product itself (the caplets) are fine. But this is the worst pill packaging ever. You have to cut and fight your way into each blister with a knife, razor blade or scissors to free a caplet. And, in order to do so, you’ll probably have to slice around two or three sides of the blister, making sure to cut very, very close to the blister.Tedious and very aggravating. (And you may damage a caplet in the process.)I wish the caplets were sold in a small bottle (loose!). Personally, I don’t need blister packaging to make individual caplets portable.

This really helps me!
I’ve started a year or so ago having to go immediately I shop at Costco most of the time and you could be on the other side of the store and it’s hard to get to the bathroom in time! But this helps me get through four or five hours away from home! And whatever was happening to me isn’t as bad anymore but I still take one when I need to go to Costco because the whole trip is probably about four hours! I love it for going places where you don’t know what to expect in the availability of bathrooms!

Does the Trick if You Don’t Mind Getting Them Open
As others have mentioned, these are almost impossible to get open.I had to use scissors to cut the corner of the capsule pack, and then had to cut again on the plastic, then dig and push out the capsule. There might be trick to getting them out easily, but I haven’t figured it out yet. They do seem to work for settling the stomach.

Blister pack is difficult and painful to open.
Obviously it goes without saying that when reviewing a product like this, it going to be TMI.The pills themselves are fine. I drink a lot of protein shakes, and I don’t suffer with lactose intolerance, however it twnds to cause loose stool regardless. And these do appear to do the trick. Because when I went without them, I really saw how much of a lifesaver these were. I don’t drink a protein shake without popping these first. However the reason for my 3-stars, is the problem I, and many other reviewers have when it comes to accessing them. Why is it so difficult to open the blister pack, and remove with your bare hands. And I don’t say that lightly. You need a tool with a blade of some sort. I’ve tried every way possible and it cannot be done without the aid of a sharp tool, otherwise it will hurt my hands, and the pill will break in half. And I don’t have soft baby hands either. And even scissors or a utility knife, it’s still a pain to get the pill out. And I’m very blessed to not be someone who suffers with hand problems. So now imagine someone who has mobility and hand motor function issues. This would be flat out impossible for them. And no, it has nothing to do with it being “amazon brand.” The name brand has the same impossible to open packaging, as well as every other name brand, and pharmacy’s generic brand. That is such a turn off. The Amazon brand just happens to be the bang for your buck. But it’s so frustrating, that it will make you irrationally think that just having gas and diarrhea is less of a struggle. This needs to fixed.

tamper proof packaging almost impossible to open without carrying scissors
I would not buy this brand/product again, the packaging of each tablet makes the meds almost inaccessible unless you are carrying a knife or scissors. I have had to cut them all open and put in a pill bottle to make them accessible. the Drug itself is fine, packaging is over-zealous.

Really nice product but worst packaging I’ve ever seen.
It’s a shame. The pills work perfectly but getting them out of the bubble pack is extremely difficult. Scissors don’t work because you’re going to cut the pills since you need to cut them close. The pull tabs just don’t work. Just trying to push them through does nothing because there’s an extra piece of cardboard behind it. I ended up using a razor knife with a risk of cutting my fingers if it slipped. They should be packaged in a bottle or in a blister pack with no cardboard behind it. Someone with arthritis in the hands probably wouldn’t be able to open it safely.
