   It broke

   Not worth the money. Bought it for small office use. Had it for a a little over a year. I didn’t add more than the sheet number required. Not recommending.

   First Impression: So far so good..

   The media could not be loaded.

   I just received this shredder and I love it for my needs. I have never had a shredder before, but have the occasional personally identifiable item that needs to be destroyed. I used to rip those up manually, which is fine, but doesn’t work for more than a few pages and is pretty inaccurate. I am in medicine, and now have on my person, notes about patients when I come home at the end of the day, and would like to destroy these notes without having to take them back to the hospital and use their shredders. This will be perfect for that, with no more than 2 or 3 pages a day + junk mail etc.I prefer the small size because I find the big shredders hideous. This I can hide away and bring out when I need it. I posted some pictures of relative size of the shredder. It has a clear bin which shows if it is full. It turns on, but only operates when paper is fed through the slot. It must be folded along the long axis, otherwise it does not fit. I haven’t tried to test the full power of this device because I have no need to, I am not bulk shredding. The resulting pieces are nice and small and only the most diligent of criminal would attempt to reconstruct these papers..In the manual it states that one should “never shred plastic, continuous forms, anything with adhesive including labels and envelopes, newsprint or any hard materials. while this shredder will shred staples, it is recommended that you remove them whenever possible in order to extend the life of your shredder. only shred credit cards by feeding them vertically within the designated area. never feed more than on credit card at a time.”I will update this review as I continue to use this product!

   Heavy Duty Little Shredder

   This little desktop shredder is strong for its size. The only complaint I have is how weak the bin is. Mine came with two cracks, but it’s still usable. For as great as it shreds you would think the bin would be a sturdy plastic but it’s not. It’s light and flimsy.

   The Little Shredder That Could

   Update 07/2022: this shredder is now 13 years old (purchased in 2009) and recently the auto feed switch stopped working. I took the cover off (note: there’s one screw under a QC sticker) and saw that the switch is just a flexible metal flat spring that gets pushed together when paper is pushed through. I squeezed the two “prongs” of the switch together slightly, reassembled, and we’re back in business! It’s definitely still only good for very light duty shredding, but I’m adding the star I previously withheld as a reward for longevity.Original 2014 review:I’ve had this shredder for over 5 years, and it has been just what I’ve needed. I only use it for light-duty shredding: basically just junk mail that has personal information on it and other sensitive documents, plus the occasional expired credit card. It’s been great.I’ll echo other reviewers’ comments that you can’t (or at least shouldn’t) put more than two thicknesses of paper into the slot at once, and, because the slot is only 4.5″ wide, most paper has to be folded. The best way, especially with those long credit card applications we all get for the sole purpose of making sure our shredders still work, is to fold the page down the vertical axis (e.g. an 8.5 x 11″ sheet becomes 4.25 x 11″ folded over). The basket fills up fairly quickly if you have a stack of papers to shred, but I don’t really mind this, as I probably only do my shredding once or twice a month. It has “auto” (shredding gears are activated when you put paper in the slot) and “reverse” modes, and I find it works well to switch to reverse to clear out any rogue bits of paper periodically.Pros:- Small footprint- Reliable (it’s lasted me 5 years and still going strong)- Not too expensive- Bin is easy to empty- “Auto” modeCons:- Most paper has to be folded to fit the slot- Limit of 2 thicknesses of paper (1 sheet, folded)- Bin fills quicklyAll-in-all, a fine little shredder. It’s not fast, but it will get the job done. Four stars.

   Perfect for the price you pay!

   Perfect for someone who does not have a lot to shred or does not have to shred frequently. Small so it fills up frequently, but also can stay tucked away and hidden until next use. Can only shred 2-3 layers of paper- anything thicker will jam. Works with credit cards. Overall, I have had this product for a few months and it gets the job done nicely. I use it to shred mail that I do not want to just throw in the recycling as is. I took away 1 star because it can overheat pretty easily depending on how much you have to shred.

   Ok for low & some med impact information shredding

   If you look at the shredding, it looks strip cut but since the length of the strips are shorter, I suppose it’s technically a crosscut shredder.It’s alright for at desk shredding of notes and such but I would not use this for anything that has highly confidential information (eg: SSN/Bank Information etc.,) or even medium-high like acct numbers etc., because the strips are wide enough and cross cuts are predictably straight, it wouldn’t be hard to tape them to reconstruct the document.If you are just looking to shred things like paperwork with eg: name, address, telephone number, Comcast bill etc., this might be sufficient.If you are a reasonably sized house hold, this could be annoying if you are like us and let shredding pile up for a couple weeks, but this a personal preference obviously.I list a lot of shortcomings here but am still giving this 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because it is priced and designed right for the regular market audience who don’t have to shred highly confidential on a regular basis like some of us do.

   Pretty nice product but it doesn’t always shred as “securely” as you would expect it to.

   I’ve owned this product for about 3 years and it actually still works just like it did when I first purchased it. This is after shredding stacks and stacks of junk mail, old documents, bank cards, and confidential data. I’m talking about thousands of documents and this little shredder still does what it’s supposed to do. It has a standby mode, shred mode and a reverse mode. Keep the blades oiled (specifically with shredder oil) after every couple of uses and your product should remain functional. Therefore, make sure that you purchase shredder oil when you buy this item because it will not be included.However, the flaw is that when you look at the shredding’s, you’ll notice that some of the small strips may still contain confidential data such as a partial name, address, account number etc. It shreds credit cards/debit cards too but the remains of those may also contain a partial name. Once you dispose of your garbage, it becomes public property and anyone with a lot of time and patience could sort through those shredding’s and tape them back together to obtain your personal information. So don’t assume that your personal data is safe because you fed it to this machine. If you really want the shredded material to be properly destroyed, you might want to use it as cat litter, burn it or some other use that could render the shredded material worthless.One last small con about this product would be the fact that the little basket fills quickly. It usually gets full after about 8-10 pages or so. Also, do not try to cram 4 or more pieces of paper into the shredder at one time because you’ll hear the strain that it’s putting on the motor and blades. Another thing to think about is that you must fold a standard (8×11) piece of paper in half to feed it through the slot. Overall, I say that the product is still worth the money but if you have very confidential information, you might want to find a more secure way of disposing of it unless you don’t mind little shreds of paper that might have a whole name or a couple of visible words all throughout the mix. They say that the crosscut shredder is the most secure but from my experience, I’d rate it around a 6/10 in secure shredding due to the fact that in most cases, it is sufficient for those who are on a tight budget.

   Good for regular shredding, but maybe not shredding parties like I tend to have (month or two worth of mail), certainly not between multiple people in an office space

    Does an ok job but comes cracked

    It’s a bit frustrating to but something broken. I got my first one and returned because urBeats cracked on the top. Then got a second one which also came with a crack. It functions ok, I just hate to buy something that is broken. Looks like it’s a common occurrence.
