Great product HARD TO REPLACE!
I come to you from your own future to WARN you that attempting this replacement is NOT as easy as the YouTube videos make it look! It took me a variety of tools, about 3 hours and made a huge mess. Removing the old piston is VERY VERY difficult. Once I finally did get it off (it was fused on both ends – even broke a hammer and a file getting it out) the replacement product installed in 10 seconds. Happy with the final outcome but would NEVER attempt to do this again. Just buy a new chair…… seriously this was NOT fun.

Takes brute strength to install, but then it works great
My office ordered this for an employee’s chair, which would no longer go up and down properly. Buying this replacement cylinder saved us hundreds of dollars compared to buying a new chair. But it’s not as easy to swap the cylinders as the YouTube video makes it look. (Three women were not able to do it on our own.) A handy-man type of guy was able to get the old cylinder out and install the new cylinder, and once that was done the chair was as good as new.

Easy To Install
Like many others I had a comfortable chair I really like with a constantly sinking piston. Ordered the new Hosali 5.5inch piston replacement and very satisfied – extra height, support and the chair feels brand new.5 min install: lay the chair down (preferably on a carpet so it doesn’t move). Grab the wheel assemble with one hand, with the other hammer the old piston from underneath the wheels – give it a good hit – it should come loose. Use a heavy hammer, do not hit the wheel assembly – aim for the piston which should be coming through a few inches underneath the center of the wheel assembly.Once loose, put the wheel assembly aside. Grab a large size plumbers plier, with one hand hold the chair, with the other use the pliers and clamp the piston and twist. Don’t pull, twist back and forth. Give it a few tries, it will come lose.From the there, align the new piston, put wheel assembly back, and sit on chair – your weight will set everything in place.If in doubt, YouTube it – took me 5 min. No struggle.

Perfect replacement for a wonky Corsair T1 gas cylinder
If you own a Corsair T1 gaming chair and the gas cylinder has slowly crept through the base of the chair until it was touching the floor, this cylinder will fix that problem. The old cylinder was so thoroughly wedged into the base that I need a 5lb hammer and a block of wood to knock it free. Once that base was free, I still had to partially disassemble the chair to get access to the top of the cylinder. I was able to punch it out with a screwdriver and a hammer. The new cylinder seems to be appropriately sized to snugly fit into the base.I opted for the tallest of the available cylinders, which allows my feet to touch the floor at the lowest settings (I’m 5′ 10).

Perfect! Just what I needed
So happy with the height. It rose to the occasion! I replaced the cylinder with another chair and it works great. I was so nervous it was not going to be the right height when I took it out of the box. It’s a 5.5.. I like to sit higher than my desk sometimes, sometime evenly, whatever height I want, I can can now adjust my seat. My monitors are on swing arms so I can move them to desired height as well.

Nice replacement
My chair cylinder wouldn’t stay up any longer and I purchased this as a replacement. It has held up great. It is a bit taller than the older one which at first I thought I wouldn’t like, but as I both stand at my desk and sit, it was nice to have a taller chair to have a sort of stool feel if I elevated the chair higher instead of having to sit all the way down. Basically, it gave me more options in how I want to use my chair.

The optimal fix for a sinking chair! Note: removing the older cylinder is the hard part.
I’ve been having a sinking executive desk chair for quite some time. It has been driving me crazy while limiting my ability to actually concentrate on work. I tried all different types of hacks, but none make an actual difference until I ran into this solution. After installing it, the seat feels brand new. Higher heights than what I had before (which is a plus for me), feel very sturdy, and does not ink at all! For $20, this is definitely worth it!My experience with Removing the older cylinder:Removing the older cylinder was the hardest part. I didn’t have a pipe wrench at hand. I tried striking the base with a 4lbs sledgehammer for over an hour without avail. Luckily I had a locking plier with me. Turns out the best solution is to tighten the locking pliers on the old cylinder. Make sure the base is grounded/anchored then hit the end of the locking pliers to imitate a sudden twisting motion. After a couple of hits, I was able to twist the cylinder within the base until I was able to take it out. Much better than senselessly pounding the base with a hammer, as the best way to actually get the cylinder out is by twisting it out like a screw.I didn’t find the gloves to be useful as they’re very slippery. Seems like their only benefit is to keep your hands clean while going through the installation process.

Good cylinder after difficult removal
It appears this will repair my chair and remove the need to buy a new one! It installed easily once the old one was removed. That was difficult!!! – No easy use of rubber mallet- it took drill, sawsall, and a big metal hammer and driver. Ultimately everything worked out but by no means easy!

Pretend your a Blacksmith for Easier Installation?
It works and its great but lets get to installing the thing.So I started looking at all the reviews saying installation was more difficult and having to use a few choice words and some elbow grease, I was almost right there as my first 5 mins were left struggling to get my Original cylinder off my damn chair when I had a spark of inspiration I had to share.If you are struggling or foresee yourself struggling with that task here was my method, pretend you are a blacksmith removing a horseshoe from a horse, flip it over so the chair is on its side, stand with the cylinder between your legs and you are facing the same as the wheels, push the chair and stand away from each other with your thighs and bang on the metal panel near the cylinder and it popped off with very little effort. Once it was out I could bang the cylinder off the stand and install the new one with no effort!Now while I am typing this I am in alignment with my keyboard and mouse again and I don’t have to struggle with my chair sinking!I do not enjoy writing reviews but this earned it by saving me the cost of new chair without making me work for it.

Corsair T1 Gaming Chair replacement
Thank you to one of the reviews that mentioned this. Definitely can vouch, this is the perfect replacement if your having issues with the gas cylinder dying and/or falling through the base and almost hitting the floor on Corsair’s T1 Race chair. Sadly, as much as I love Corsair, it seems to me they must use a really cheap gas cylinder on these chairs lol Glad the replacement is doing well. Replacement Ease
The video with the product on the site, and the included instructions mention a rubber mallet. My friend used his small sledge hammer to get the old cylinder loose. The new went in perfectly. I am over 200 lbs so this replacement for my 2 year old chair (also bought off Amazon and was rated for 400 lbs, at the time of that purchase I was just over 300 lbs.) The old cylinder could no longer maintain the chair where I needed it seat height wise. The replacement can handle higher seat heights versus the old one. The old one at max height wasn’t high enough, but I made due.Just got the replacement, have not had time to abuse it with my large ass, so if there are any updates, will post later one. Right now I am content with the replacement.

Review of Office Chair Cylinder.My office chair is pretty old, but still quite functional and not all that uncomfortable. The pneumatic cylinder however is leaking to the point that I have to raise my chair almost every time I sit in it the first time each day. This has good reviews and has a very good weight rating. I need to lose a few pounds, but this is rated more than enough for me. I am not a handyman by any means. However, I found that installing the new one to be impossible as it just wasn’t going to fit. I took it out of the box it arrived in and could tell. Perhaps my chair was just too old.

Bottom Line: Would buy again.
A good shock to be sure. It extends – a lot. In fact I was stupid and bought a unit that was too tall for me. My bad.This is a solid unit and after removing the outer decorative casing I was able to fit it into my Serta office chair base without issue and it has been working great for a couple of months now.That all said, because I got a unit that is too tall the shock is always 100% compressed so I cannot attest to the longevity.We did fully extend the shock and I put well over 400 pounds of weight on it – roughly – to see how it would hold and it did not have a problem.It came with everything needed to swap a shock including gloves. Yeah, the old ones are usually greasy leaking messes so have some paper towels or a washable rag(s) handy before doing this.I will buy from this manufacturer again.

Very impressive!!!
My chairs gas cylinder wouldnt hold the seat up if anyone sat on it. I tried a few “fixes” as I mainly wanted it at max height, which was already too low for me. My main fix was duct tape as it was suggested by some diy cylinder fix. This eventually stopped working.Getting my old cylinder off was EXTREMELY difficult. Replacing it with this one was extremely easy!! Just plop it in the old base, set the chair onto this new HOSALI gas cylinder and it was immediately good to go, sat perfectly in the based and tightly into the mounting hole nice and firmly, no wiggle.The chair now goes up BEYOND a point that even I, 6’0 with long lets, needs but I’m glad I bought this height for my chair in case I do ever need it higher. It also feels way smoother than the old cylinder when rotating in the chair. It glides very easily but stays where I want it.I am truly shocked that this replacement is better than any of the dozens and dozens of computer chairs I’ve used all my life. It feels luxurious, which feels strange to say about something so mundane!I’m planning on replacing the chair soon as its not very comfortable to begin with, but I know I’m keeping this cylinder for my next chair and not even installing the base model! It really is THAT much better.

This cylinder worked great, I had a low office chair and this brought it up the perfect height. To remove the old one you’ll need a pipe wrench and possibly a second person.

It is tall for sure
This cylinder is great. It is easy to install and works in my chair which did not come from the same company (sometimes things do not fit other companies/brands of parts). However, it is really tall. I sit at a normal size desk with a standing desk set up on top of it, and I was just an inch or so too low with my old cylinder. When I installed this one, I ended up being an inch or so too high and had to raise the standing desk to it’s first height to be able to fit. So just make sure your measurements are correct for how high you want to be.

Tall
It didn’t come with the gloves as advertised, though that personally doesn’t bother me, that should be considered for future buyers that might need them. What surprised me is how crazy tall this cylinder is. At its lowest setting, this cylinder actually makes the chair sit 2 inches higher than it did with the previous cylinder did at its highest, and I’m putting risers under my desk to compensate for it. The fault isn’t on the previous cylinder either, it still worked flawlessly, I just needed to replace the tilt controller and couldn’t get it to come off. If you keep in mind the potential lack of gloves and the sheer potential height of the cylinder, it’s a 10 out of 10 buy

Bought a chair and for some unknown reason I could never get the chair taller . It wasn’t a weight deal . It was just a cheap chair ! I looked into just buying a better chair in general but came across this and figured I’d try it out. Definitely saved me from spending more money on another chair !!!

Looking to save that old chair that has that perfect seat? This is it.
I have a computer chair that I’ve loved for 10 years. It has broken a few times and I would get a new chair I thought I’d like. Well, I’d just use the parts off it to fix my old chair. I paid $300 for an unused $580 chair and still… no go. I wound up stealing the base off that chair and using my old seat. Well, as one could surmise, even $580 is a mid-range chair, so the tilt-swivel system bent over time and when I would lean back, it would press the piston button and go down.I know first hand how difficult it is to pull tilt mechanisms and bases off pistons (especially if they’re old and well used), so I used a different approach to fixing my favorite chair this time. I saved myself the struggle and bought this piston along with a heavy duty tilt swivel, all metal base, and hefty chair wheels.This piston surprised me. It has no give or spring like other pistons I’ve used, so it takes some getting used to. If you’re used to having a suspension-like feeling in your chairs, this is not it. But if that doesn’t bother you, then this piston is astounding. I was surprised at how high it is when extended all the way. You could easily use this for a chair at a kitchen bar or something.100% worth the money, just be aware there is no give to this piston. No springiness at all. For me, this doesn’t matter as much stability and the comfort of my favorite seat, so I’m still going to give this a full rating. Love it and it feels like it will stand the test of time for many years to come.

Use the right tools and it’s not hard to replace.
I watched a couple of videos, and tried to hammer off the chair base from the pneumatic cylinder, to no avail. Finally I tried the pipe wrench to give the cylinder about a quarter turn and remove it from the chair seat. Then I inverted the chair base (with cylinder) over a five-gallon pail, and got a block of 2×4 and a sledgehammer. I put the wood block on top of the inverted cylinder, and hit it a couple times with the sledgehammer to drive the cylinder out of the chair base. It was quickly done. I installed the new cylinder in the base (its just a friction fit), and fit the chair seat onto the top of the cylinder (also a friction fit). The chair works well and feels like new. Time will tell if I can get the expected years of use out of it.

Got tired of feeling like an angry orangutang!
This helped a LOT!!! got a good chair at a discount store, got it home and it immediately went to the floor. Second problem was it was a very short lift. Changed it out, and now I am sitting high and steady! Very nice. For anyone who has a problem removing the old piston, get a large pipe wrench. You wont want the old piston, so no real need to be nice to it. Took about 5 minutes with the large wrench.

Does not fit Steelcase Leap without modification
If you buy this to replace your Steelcase leap cylinder, you need to trim the top button off by about 1/4 inch. I used a jigsaw and carefully cut off a small section. After that it worked great. It was a perfect fit into the base and the seat.

MUCH better than ANY cylinder I’ve ever had with ANY office chair!
In 25 years of IT, and being a big and tall man, this is the best cylinder I’ve ever had. If you love your chair and the only thing wrong is that it won’t stay ‘up’, don’t throw it away, get one of these to replace your current one. You wont’ regret it!

Great Office Chair Cylinder
I bought this to replace one I purchased a few years back that failed. I was nervous at first because the original “big and tall” cylinder I bought was over $100 and this one’s a fraction of that cost.I’m 6’4” and about 310. I also have the roller blade style wheels that add about an inch in height to my chair. With this cylinder raised all the way up, my feet are about 2” from touching the floor.This cylinder does not budge once it’s set. As to how long it’ll last, only time will tell.

I ordered this gas cylinder after searching for the part using the chair’s model numberthe gas cylinder fits in the chair, but it has a different adjustment mechanism, a top level button, instead of a cable that comes in from the side.the chair is usable, but the normal adjustment lever doesn’t workdespite searching for a replacement part using the chair model number, the result of the search was not an exact match
